Poland, the Next Host Country for Cycling Schools

From April 13 to 15, 2018, a UECT cycling tour instructor harmonization training session was conducted in Staszów (Poland) by Alina Koson-Clement (UECT Youth Activities Coordinator) and Jean Marie Maillard (FFCT instructor), with logistical support from local organizers. Eight cycle tourists (four Poles and four Ukrainians), including six women, participated in this training, which will enable them to welcome and supervise young cyclists participating in European Week 2018 under the best possible conditions. This was a highly constructive training session and a very positive experience that should lead to the upcoming creation of Poland’s first cycling tourism school in Staszów, under the leadership of Slawomir Migalski, the local head of the PTTK cycling federation, in collaboration with the UECT. The FFCT’s expertise in cycling tourism schools is spreading across Europe, and we hope this Polish example will also take root in other UECT member countries; Portugal is also considering establishing a cycling school in 2019—a promising sign for the years to come…
